After nearly nine months of staying in the mother’s womb, a baby is finally delivered out into the world. It is here that the job of both parents becomes difficult, as a baby will cry for more than 3 hours daily making it impossible to get the necessary rest. Pediatricians refer to the long abnormal crying of a newborn as Colic and study is unable to nail why this happens although there are assorted theories that explain this. One theory for a cause of colic is that the infant may ingest air while suckling, and another theory is that the infant drinks the milk too quickly which may lead to the upset abdomen. It is also feasible that the food being eaten by the mother is the cause while some claim the newborns immune system is not yet able to adapt to life outside the womb.

Regardless of the cause, pediatricians believe that colic is normal among newborns, so there is really nothing to worry about, as it will finally disappear in a few months in any event. Nourishing and looking after for the child is the initial step that the moms and dads should take, and if it such even would not occur, some believe that it would make it more difficult in the period of adjustment. Even it doesn’t invariably work, there is single solution to take care of a colic baby. These are a few ideas that parents may attempt in an effort to relieve their baby’s signs.
If the newborn is in the crib, attempt picking him up, supporting or rocking him, or even singing to him to them him fall asleep. Burping the baby, after breastfeeding, can prevent the infant from awakening, but if the baby is full, sometimes a car ride or a buggy ride can relieve it. The baby’s predisposition to noise can make it waken again and cry but this can be avoided by not making too many sounds although playing a CD of classical music can help make the infant rest.
A warm bath will help stop a baby from crying but the moms and dads should make sure that it should not be too hot for them. It is never too late to give the newborn baby a pacifier as this will make the baby think that it is still sucking onto the mother’s breast when it is feeding. Simethicon drops have been proved to stop the baby’s cry, since intestinal colic is usually connected with abdominal gas pains.
The last point is that the mother should change her dietary habits because the food may be producing gas which is passed on to the infant in milk. Colic is not thought to be a serious problem, because it is not classified as a disorder or a disease, but rather as a phase that a parent will go through with the baby as it develops. To couples who decide to begin a family, this is just one of the many hurdles they must face.
